Don’t Be Prey + Live Q&A

2 June @ 7:00 pm - 9:15 pm
£11.45 – £15.95

Come along to Everyman York on Tuesday, 2 June, for a special screening of Don’t Be Prey (12A cert), followed by a live Q&A with Jonty Warneken.

Jonty is one of the world’s most accomplished disabled endurance athletes. He holds four Guinness World Records, is the world’s first disabled ice-mile swimmer, has represented Great Britain at multiple Ice Swimming World & European Championships, and became the first para swimmer to solo swim both the North Channel and the circumnavigation of Jersey. He has completed channel relays, ultra-distance swims, triathlons, Windermere solos, and is training for the Arctic Ultra ski race.

Jonty is Vice President of the International Ice Swimming Association; an Honouree of the Ice Swimming Hall of Fame, a director of the World Open Water Swimming Association; and a trustee to two regional charities. He has just finished his first book “Taking One Step” on how he builds resilience, finds meaning and lives his life to the full. He says: “There is no reason why a disabled swimmer like me shouldn’t swim the North Channel. It’s not something that is toned down because you’re disabled, or where the distance is shortened. You have to do the swim.”

Don’t Be Prey is an edge-of-your-seat adventure into one man’s fight to reclaim his life by taking on extraordinarily challenging channel crossings fraught with danger, the Oceans Seven. Featuring unforgettable characters, raw vulnerability, and the constant risk of sharks and jellyfish, it’s a gripping, uplifting journey of resilience, reinvention and what it really takes to survive.
