York Language Exchange is a weekly, in-person meetup where locals, students, and travellers in York practise languages together over casual conversation. Every Thursday evening, we fill Valhalla Pub with friendly tables dedicated to different languages, from Spanish and French to Japanese, Korean, and English.

It’s free, open to all levels, and perfect for anyone who wants to:

  • Improve speaking skills in a relaxed setting

  • Meet new people from around the world

  • Share their own culture and learn from others

You don’t need to be a “language person”, you just need curiosity, kindness, and the willingness to say hello in a new language.
