As The Press has reported, the black and white poster appeared in Paragon Street over the weekend.
It shows the President of the United States, alongside his vice president, JD Vance, and billionaire Elon Musk, an advisor to the president and the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and Tesla, next to the words: “The Turd Reich.”

Today (Monday, April 7), Grow Up Art confirmed that the group, based in the London area, is behind the work.
A spokesperson for the group, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Press the poster was inspired by “my rage at the current state of the world”.

The group chose the location – outside a disused site next to York Barbican where developer Persimmon has submitted plans for hundreds of new homes to be built – after speaking with artists in the city and looking on Google Street View, the spokesperson said.
Grow Up Art wants the poster to “speak for itself really”, the spokesperson said.
The poster has had a mixed reaction in York.
More than 100 comments have been left on a Press Facebook post about it.

“The wave of support and positive messages we have received, and the global reaction this is getting, far outweighs the negative comments,” the Grow Up Art spokesperson said. “…and hopefully the message of love will always conquer over individuals spreading hate.”
They added that the group made the poster free to download and print which had a “huge response at the protest in the US at the weekend”.
